About

Ben Léger’s journey into the world of shed dog training began in 2012, when he faced the challenge of training his own shed dog with almost no resources, guidance, or community support available. As shed dog tests and competitions started to emerge, newcomers struggled to find reliable information on how to prepare, train, and compete successfully. Ben recognized this gap—and decided to change the landscape.

Widely regarded as one of Canada’s early pioneers in shed hunting dog development, Ben co‑founded the country’s first nonprofit shed‑dog‑dedicated club in 2021. Since 2020, he has trained a wide range of recreational and competitive shed dogs and has coached handlers across Canada to achieve meaningful progress and reach their goals.

Through years of hands‑on experience, Ben has refined training methods that consistently produce confident, capable, and competition‑ready shed dogs. His approach blends proven techniques with a deep understanding of canine behavior, making training accessible for beginners while still offering advanced guidance for seasoned handlers.

Ben founded Canadian Antler Dogs to provide Canadians with high‑quality shed dog training products, education, and support.

Today, his mission is simple: make shed dog training and coaching available to everyone through Train A Shed Dog. This online platform was created to help you prepare for next spring’s shed season, build a stronger partnership with your dog, and step confidently into your next shed trial.
